My first - and so far only - book.

Simon Dodsworth ARPS FHEA

So, this is me. I make art and I take photographs. I also teach design.

My art is abstract, geometrical, and generally involves metal leaf being applied to canvas or paper. At least it does at the moment; I've lots of ideas as to the different directions that my art can take, but perhaps that will have to wait a little until I can devote more time to it. My photos are sometimes abstract, sometimes not, and often graphic in nature. By that I mean that the content of my photos is often about strong, simple, shapes, along with visual texture.

I've been an Associate of the Royal Photographic Society for many years, and more recently a  Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.  I've also written a book about interior design. It sells quite well, and it's now in its second edition.

It was whilst I was working as a design tutor that I realised that I'd left my creative side behind, and that I wanted to actually be creative again, and so I started to develop both my art and re-discover my photography. Teaching is rewarding, but nothing beats creating, for me at least..

One of my other passions that reveals itself in the "Things" gallery is my love of aviation. I'd like to be able to tell you why I find it so fascinating, but the truth is I don't really know. Is it the machines; graceful and sleek from a distance, riveted, undulating, solid when seen close up? Or perhaps it's simply that I like to see the world from up high, from that completely unique perspective where you can tangle with the clouds and the worries of day-to-day life really do seem less important? Who knows.
